Unfortunately, many people in our country suffer from a disability. These disabilities have a huge impact on their quality of life and are often painful too. Not being able to sit or lie comfortably. Or perhaps having to lie down all day. Quattron in Ridderkerk is a specialist when it comes to offering support to people with a disability. Literally.
Quattron develops and manufactures back elements, spinal orthoses, support elements for head, arms and legs and seat systems. The products ensure that people with a disability can play an active and mobile role in society, with less pain and more enjoyment.
“A good example is the seat support for people who can no longer get out of bed,” says Arie Bernhart, operational manager at Quattron. “The solution that we developed is a top to toe seat support which can be used on a wheelchair. Those who are bedridden can now sit comfortably and dynamically with maximum support and freedom of movement.”
Soft cushions on metal frame
The cushions in a cover have a special granular latex filling which is soft and resilient and which shapes to the contours of the body. “We develop and manufacture this in house, also because it often needs to be custom made. The seat cover rests on a metal frame mounted on a wheelchair. We don’t make the frame ourselves. The bottom part of a frame for the leg support is made by Vidra Metaalproducten, for example.”
Vidra is a subsidiary of Van Keulen Interieurbouw and specialises in metal cable and tubing products. The company makes parts, semi-finished and end products for a range of sectors, including the biomedical sector. “We’ve been working with this sector for around six years to their total satisfaction,” says Arie Bernhart. Vidra is a partner which responds to the requirements we impose on this product. The nice thing is that Vidra contributes ideas and is always prepared to delivery on time in peak times. And perhaps the very best part is that this also contributes to the mobility of people who would otherwise rarely be able to leave their beds.”
